Meet Dr. Lagace. Being a chiropractor in Canada’s North teaches him that resourcefulness is critical to the spine, muscle and nervous system health of his patients.
“In a remote area like Iqaluit, there are very few practitioners that accept patient referrals. Here, resourcefulness is paramount. We always support the patients the best we can, and often conduct extra research and consult with local or distant colleagues. On occasion, patients will vacation to other parts of Canada, and we will refer them to appropriate professionals with needed expertise in those locations.
There are a lot of challenges to practicing chiropractic care in a remote location, particularly in Canada’s North. Yet, there is also a great benefit: people are happy and appreciate that we are there to meet an important need for spine, muscle and nervous system care. It enriches our practice and the breadth of our knowledge, and strengthens our creativity and our resilience.
While the community remains small, our love for our clinic and the community continues to grow.”
