The Coalition for Safe and Effective Pain Management brings together professions who have an important role in non-cancer pain management in primary care settings, including those who play a central role in helping patients navigate their care options.
Members include the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists, the Canadian Chiropractic Association, the Canadian Nurses Association, the Canadian Patient Safety Institute, Arthritis Society of Canada, Canadian Physiotherapy Association, Canadian Psychological Association, the Institute for Safe Medication Practices Canada, Patients for Patient Safety Canada, and the Canadian Association of Social Workers.
The Coalition’s primary objective is to reduce the prevalence of opioid prescribing by optimizing non-pharmacological pain management alternatives in Canada. CSEPM recognizes and supports the important and legitimate role of pharmaceuticals in pain management, as well as the importance of timely access to surgical interventions.
