What is the Straighten Up Canada mobile app?

The Straighten Up Canada app has been specifically designed to improve posture and spinal health. The app provides users with 12 short exercise videos as well as a tracking feature to monitor progress that can be shared through social media. It also offers a Find a Chiropractor search function to locate chiropractors within proximity to your desired location.

How do I download it?

The Straighten Up Canada app is available for the iOS and Android based devices. The app can be downloaded free of charge by visiting the Apple App Store on your iOS device and/or Google Play Store on the Android device.

How much does the Straighten Up Canada app cost?

The app is free.

 How long do these exercises take to perform?

The benefit of this app is that with some practice these easy-to-perform stretching movements only take three minutes each day.

Is this app actually proven to improve posture?

The app is brand new, but the Straighten Up program was first launched in the U.S. in 2005. A study in the U.S. found that people who practised the Straighten Up exercises daily for five consecutive weeks experienced improved posture, stronger core muscles, and felt more comfortable.

How can I monitor my progress?

You can monitor your progress by using the Track functionality. The Track page shows a calendar interface. You can log your posture workout everyday by tapping on the date and then clicking “Log and Exit”. If you forget to log your workout for any day, you can go back to that date and log your workout. Once you log your workout, you can monitor your progress in the graph that shows just below the calendar interface.

 How do I use the Find a Chiropractor search function?

It’s simple — all you need to do is use your current location to find a chiropractor nearby, or enter the postal code of your desired location. You can also search by First Name, Last Name, City or Province.

Why can’t I find the chiropractor’s information that came up when I previously used the Find a Chiropractor function?

The app randomly generates a list of chiropractors within the vicinity of your search parameters. The results may vary with each search.

Is the app available in any other language than English?

Yes, the app is currently available in English and French.

Why doesn’t the app work on my iOS device?

There could be a number of reasons why your app may not work on your iOS device. The app currently supports devices running iOS 7.0 or above. If your device is on an older version of the iOS, it may not run properly.

How do I report a technical problem with my app?

You can report any technical problems directly using the Report Problems and mailing it to info@chiropractic.ca. While mailing the issues, please also include the device name, iOS on the device and the actions you performed.

How is my posture affected by daily activities?

Poor posture is caused by:

  • Long periods of inactivity
  • Being hunched over desks, computers and handheld electronic devices
  • Jobs that require repetitive, physically taxing activities, including a lot of bending forward and lifting

There are a number of benefits from maintaining good posture:
