1 in 3 Canadians Live with Back Pain: This World Spine Day, Experts Say It’s Time to Invest in Your Spine

Toronto, ON – Back pain affects 1 in 3 Canadians every year and is the leading cause of disability worldwide. This World Spine Day (October 16), the Canadian Chiropractic Association (CCA) is calling on Canadians to ‘Invest in Your Spine’ with small, everyday activities and movements that protect long-term health.

“Investing in your spine doesn’t require a big budget,” says Dr. Ayla Azad, CEO of the Canadian Chiropractic Association. “It means making consistent choices, from taking posture breaks at work to staying active daily, that support your spine today and prevent pain tomorrow.”

Why ‘Invest’?

The campaign reframes investment as an investment in your time, energy and in expertise.

  • Invest your time: taking breaks, stretching, and moving for at least 30 minutes a day.
  • Invest your energy: carrying backpacks properly, sitting well, and using safe lifting techniques.
  • Invest in expertise: seeking professional care from chiropractors and other healthcare providers when needed.
