“I am the only practitioner left in the area and all patients come to see me,” Dr. Ward says. “I feel that I have built a bridge between the two communities. Racism runs deep here and there was a long history of tension.”

“I’m an LGBTQ2+ chiropractor, but I’m also a white male chiropractor, which puts me at an advantage,” he says. “I still need to look at myself and what changes I can make in my community for others. I need to fight for those who have less privilege. I am fighting for them because I found my own strength.”
