MP Maggie Chi Acknowledges CMCC, Canadian Chiropractors in World Spine Day Statement

The Canadian Chiropractic Association’s World Spine Day campaign made its way to the House of Commons on Oct. 30, 2026, with MP Maggie Chi, parliamentary secretary to the minister of health, delivering a powerful statement on the importance of prioritizing spinal health and well-being nationwide.

“In my riding of Don Valley North, we’re fortunate to be home to the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College (CMCC). For over 80 years, the CMCC has been a leader in chiropractic education — training generations of health care professionals who serve communities across Canada and around the world,” Chi said.

“I want to recognize the faculty and students at CMCC, and all those working to help Canadians stay healthy and pain-free.”

Back pain is the leading cause of disability globally. World Spine Day, which takes place annually on Oct. 16, is one of the largest public health initiatives coordinated by the World Federation of Chiropractic (WFC). The theme for 2026 is Spine Health for Life — recognizing that spinal health is fundamental to mobility, independence, and meaningful participation throughout all stages of life.

“The focus for World Spine Day this year encourages prevention, early intervention, and rehabilitation to help reduce avoidable disability and support healthier, more resilient communities, including here in Canada,” Dr. Ayla Azad, CEO of the CCA, said in the organization’s World Spine Day news release.

“A healthy spine is influenced by movement, ergonomics, mental and emotional health, nutrition, safe environments, and access to evidence-based care such as chiropractic. Whether you’re 25 or 85, your spine literally carries you through every moment that matters. That’s why it’s crucial for Canadians to ‘Move Like It Matters‘ — because it does.“
